Not sure this is the right section but here goes:

Mahmud ale has only uploaded images which are obviously not theirs, but yet keep uploading them as "Own work", just see how many were deleted here [1] (also look at their file names, didn't even bother to give a proper file name to many of them).

They just recently uploaded new ones (all vastly different in style, making it even more obvious that it's not own work) too under "own work" one of them I found on deviantart. The two others I haven't been able to trace so far, probably from some forum. Also, I don't think Mahmud ale has ever communicated in Commons nor the English Wiki, where the vast majority of their edits are attempts at adding these uploaded images. Remove the file protection

Please, remove File:It's a Wonderful Life - Prague IMG 0103.png from Commons:Auto-protected files/wikipedia/fr. This protection unnecessarily prevents the improvement of description and categorization of the image.

Btw., I suspect that many language versions of Wikipedia are using this photo in infoboxes under the mistaken assumption that this building was the scene of the Prague mass shooting. However, this building is a concert hall. The university building is on the other side of the square. ŠJů (talk) 03:23, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

The photo is massively used through protected page fr:Modèle:Accueil actualité with completely mistaken description. It should be removed from that page. I have removed the photo with the erroneous description from other language versions of Wikipedia. --ŠJů (talk) 04:24, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

FYI, the photo was in that category because it was on the news home page included in the home page for French Wikipedia, and thus highly visible and likely to be vandalized. @Jeff G. and Taivo: Unfortunately, this is a fatal error in the settings, that the cascade protection does not only protect the image, but also the description page of the image. So if one single language version of Wikipedia puts an image on the main page, it is not possible to correct description errors, refine the description or categorize. This cascade blocking of text pages should be disabled. While the fact that the French Wikipedia had a complete mistake and mystification in the news that is displayed on the main page and on about a hundred other pages, no one addressed it half a day after the notification. --ŠJů (talk) 15:51, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@ŠJů: This is not a fatal error, this is sanity checking to ensure that only Admins here can affect the files used on the main pages and main page previews of some 14 projects. You are still allowed to edit here or at COM:AN to request changes to the file description pages with good reason. User:Rudolf A. H. Kartz

uploads numerous media as "own work" under CC with creation date "1st January 1900". This is obviously nonsense. These media are definitely not his own creation, but taken from various sources, mostly postcards or books. Most of them are definitely younger, e.g. this picture: File:Geschäftshaus Biebergasse 14, Ecke Börsenstraße 2–4 (auch Siegmund Strauss-Haus) am Rathenauplatz mit Schillerdenkmal.jpg can only be taken between 1938 (when the Schiller-Monument was erected at this place) and 1944 (when the Building was destroyed).
